Photo chief honoured

Mail & Guardian reporter

Mail & Guardian chief photographer Ruth Motau was honoured for her work at an awards ceremony sponsored by the SABC.

This is the second year the SABC acknowledged women who have made a difference in the media and 28 women were honoured last Friday. Motau received the same award last year.

“Ruth brings a quiet dignity and artistry to her work that is an outstanding example to her colleagues while at the same time coping magnificently with the demands

of parenthood,” said M&G editor Howard Barrell.

“Her talent is evident in two of

her photographs in this week’s edition of Pregs Govender MP on page 8 and of two young South African writers on the front page of Friday.”

Three former M&G staff members Mapule Sibanda, Linda Rulashe and Lizeka Mda also received awards.
