THE TAXI’S ARE COMING

A MILESTONE is in the offing at the end of the week for East London’s multi-million rand vehicle terminal berth when the Mitsui OSK Lines car carrier, ”Cosmos Venture” docks on Friday to discharge the first 97 fully imported DaimlerChrysler Sprinter minibusses for the local market. The vehicles form part of a shipment of 248 Sprinters manufactured by DaimlerChrysler Argentina — the balance of which are headed for Australia and New Zealand. Sprinters form the backbone of DCSA’s bid to secure the billion-plus rands government contract for the recapitalisation of South Africa’s taxi industry.
