ONE SOUTH AFRICAN STILL MISSING AFTER WTC ATTACK

FIVE of the seven South Africans who went missing after the September 11 terror attacks on the United States are alive and have been accounted for, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday. Representative Ronnie Mamoepa said the five had contacted their families. One of the two that were still missing was thought to have taken Australian citizenship. ”So in effect only one South African is still unaccounted for,” Mamoepa said. Meanwhile the body of Nick Rowe, the first South African reported to have been killed in the attacks on the World Trade Centre, will arrive home on Saturday. Rowe’s body was being transported by South African Airways, which offered its services free of charge. Rowe was making a presentation to employees of Canter Fitzgerald at Windows of The World, a restaurant which was located on the 106th Floor of the WTC, at the time of the attack. He worked for UME Voice, a United States company in New York. His body was found under the rubble of the WTC on September 20. – Sapa
