The remains of South African school teacher Godfrey Fitz who was killed in the recent Bali bomb attacks
had been positively identified, Foreign Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said on Thursday.
She said Fitz’s remains had been identified through the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) forensics team in Denpasar, Bali.
Fitz was part of the Taiwan rugby tream visiting Bali at the time of the blasts, which killed more than 200 people and left scores of others injured.
Dlamini-Zuma said South African embassy officials in Indonesian capital Jakarta would travel to Bali to receive Fitz’s remains, death, embalming and DVI identification certificates, and to facilitate the repatriation of his body to South Africa.
