TREASURY OFFICIAL IN COURT OVER FALSE ID’S

A SENIOR National Treasury official was expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Thursday after two false identity documents with false numbers were allegedly found in his possession, the Home Affairs Department said. Interpol was apparently also looking for the man regarding alleged irregular activities in his home country of Zimbabwe, departmental spokesman Leslie Mashokwe said. The man, a senior manager in the Finance Department, had been in South Africa for almost 10 years, he said. The Waterkloof resident is also alleged to have falsely claimed he had a B Comm and honours degrees from the University of SA, but Unisa had denied this, Mashokwe said. He would be charged under the Aliens Control Act. – Sapa
