CHINESE MAN NABBED (AGAIN) FOR HOLDING PERLEMOEN

A 50-year-old Chinese businessman who is currently out on bail for possessing perlemoen (abalone) without a licence was arrested for the same crime in Waverley, Bloemfontein on Wednesday afternoon, police said. Police found the perlemoen and crayfish valued at R3 000 in freezers in the man’s garage, Captain Ernest Mayiki said. Two pistols were also found packed with the abalone. One of the pistols was registered to another Chinese national living in Bloemfontein and the other was reported stolen in Randburg, Johannesburg in May 1999. The first case was registered against the man in Bloemfontein in July 2001. He will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Friday. – Sapa
