‘The Great Betrayal” (March 22) concerned itself with the farcical endorsement of the Zimbabwean election by the South African observer mission and the ANC, yet even when dealing with such a clear-cut issue, Drew Forrest finds space to have a swipe at the Democratic Alliance (DA).

Forrest holds an obvious amount of animosity towards the DA, and it continues to manifest itself in his work in an increasingly snide and underhanded manner.

The DA and the DA leadership is certainly not ignorant to the very real and deep racial, cultural and economic effects that apartheid had, and continues to have, on South African society. And, given that it is the ANC that constantly plays up these divides, it is vital that the official opposition remains sensitive to these very real issues. Nick Clelland-Stokes MP, DA, Durban
