ALTOGETHER 15_680 cases of rape and attempted rape of children 17 years or younger were reported in the first nine months of last year, Safety and Security Minister Steve Tshwete said on Wednesday. Replying to a question in the National Council of Provinces, he said 5859 cases involved children 11 or younger. Of the total, 7870 cases were referred to court, with 1539 resulting in a guilty verdict. – Sapa
