In the manner of Faustus, a Russian man has sold his soul to an Alabaman woman for $400 but Mephistopheles has already caught up with him.

The resident of Barnal, in southern Siberia, set the reserve price at 5c and bidding was brisk, but shortly after the sale he received a letter from the online auctioneer demanding he deliver his soul to the buyer. If he fails to do so, he could be charged with fraud and jailed for up to three years under United States law, according to Gazeta.ru.
