Lions devour three people in Malawi

A group of lions that escaped from a national game park have killed three people in central Malawi, police said on Monday. Police say the lions crawled through a hole in the fence at the Kasungu National Park.

The first to be killed, a tobacco farm worker, was dragged into the bush by a lion and then devoured, said police representative Kelvin Maigwa.

A 40-year-old woman and 70-year-old man were also killed. The man, from the Mzimba district, was responding to the sound of his cattle being attacked, the police said. He went outside to investigate and was attacked, and then killed by a lion. – Sapa-AP
