Fall of a high-flier

Disgraced Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) CEO Trevor Abrahams allegedly threatened to use the “state intelligence mechanism” against a key witness for cooperating with a forensic probe into his conduct.

A report on allegations of irregularities against Abrahams claims that he threatened to unleash state intelligence operatives on CAA general manager for operations Sankile Nyoni.

Nyoni is now acting in Abrahams’s position. CAA legal services head KC Morobela was also threatened and intimidated by Abrahams, the report says. Abrahams told Morobela that he would “deal with Morobela on his return” for aiding investigators.

Abrahams was suspended in December after the Mail & Guardian disclosed details of a cosy relationship involving contracts between the CAA and Abrahams’s fiancÃ
