Sizzlers survivor to have bullets removed

The sole survivor of the massacre at the Sizzlers male brothel in Sea Point last month will be readmitted to hospital to have two bullets removed from his head.

Police representative Captain Etienne Terblanche said on Tuesday investigators had been told the bullets would be removed at Groote

Schuur Hospital.

Terblanche said he had seen the victim and the bullets were visible under the skin.

He said both bullets ran from one side of the head to the other side, under the skin, but had not penetrated vital areas.

”I have seen the guy and the doctors will probably just cut the skin and remove the bullets,” Terblanche said.

Groote Schuur representative Philippa Johnson was unable to confirm that the victim, who had been discharged more than a week ago, would undergo an operation.

The victim, in his early 20s and known only as Quinton, was among 10 people shot at Sizzlers in Graham Road in the early hours of January 20. Most of them also had their throats slit.

The owner of the massage parlour, Aubrey Otgaar, a client, and seven other young men died. Terblanche said the investigation into the murders was continuing but no one had been arrested. – Sapa
