The Australian Cricket Board (ACB) committee hearing the doping charge against star spin bowler Shane Warne was expected to retire to consider its verdict late Friday afternoon, officials said here.
Seven witnesses have given evidence at ACB headquarters before a three-person committee composed of Queensland judge Glen Williams, former Test spinner Peter Taylor and medical expert Susan White.
However, it was unclear whether a verdict would be reached and announced on Friday night.
Overnight accommodation was booked for the interstate judges, Williams and Taylor, in case the hearing extended to a second day. Warne, his wife Simone, brother and manager Jason, mother Brigitte and father Keith all arrived at the ACB building in one car, but made no comment to waiting journalists.
Warne had five legal representatives with him for the hearing, led by Melbourne QC Jeffrey Sher. The high-profile 33-year-old leg spinner returned home from the
World Cup tournament in southern Africa last week after testing positive to a banned diuretic.
He faces a minimum two-year ban for testing positive to the stimulant which can also conceal the use of steroids. He has claimed his mother gave him the diuretic. – Sapa-AFP
