Sri Lanka captain Sanath Jayasuriya won the toss and elected to bat in their final Pool B World Cup cricket match at Kingsmead on Monday against South Africa.
South Africa decided against playing Allan Donald and have opted for Lance Klusener instead. Pace bowler Monde Zondeki has retained his spot.
If South Africa wins Monday’s clash, the host nation will not only advance to Super Sixes, they may even top the table. A loss for Sri Lanka, however, would see the 1996 champions battle for the third qualifying spot with New Zealand.
Net run rate will determine which of the two sides will advance to the Super Sixes.
