Treatment Action Campaign chairman Zachie Achmat will be honoured as a world hero in this week’s European edition of Time magazine, Die Burger reported on Monday.
Achmat is one of 36 newsmakers from all over the world which the magazine describes as ”extraordinary people”.
The acknowledgement in Time is for Achmat’s contribution in the fight to have antiretrovirals made available at all South African state hospitals for people living with HIV/Aids.
Others honoured by Time include JK Rowling, author of the Harry Potter books, Bono, lead singer of the Irish group U2, and Zinedine Zidane, the French soccer star. – Sapa
