The retail price of petrol will go down by 38 cents per litre from next Wednesday, the Department of Minerals and Energy announced on Thursday.
Diesel fuel with a 0,3% sulphur content will be reduced by 53 cents per litre in the wholesale price, and diesel with a 0,05% sulphur content will be reduced by 47 cents per litre in the wholesale price, the department announced.
The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin would be dropped by 53 cents per litre.
”The Minister of Minerals and Energy, with the concurrence of the Minister of of Finance, approved the implementation of an Equalisation Fund levy of 10 cents per litre into the price structures of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin from 7 May 2003 to 3 June 2003,” the statement said.
The ministry also announced a single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin
”The single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin will change on a monthly basis from the first Wednesday of each month and will also be promulgated in the Government Gazette.
The single maximum national retail price with effect from 7 May 2003 to 3 June 2003 will be 308 cents per litre compared to 380 cents per litre from 2 April 2003 to 6 May 2003, that is a decrease of 72 cents per litre,” the statement added. – Sapa
