South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis is due to return to England on Tuesday, team spokesperson Gerald de Kock said here Friday.
Kallis (27) returned to South Africa, after playing in the Proteas’s triangular series final defeat against England earlier this month, to be with his father Henry, who died of cancer on July 23.
That meant Kallis missed the drawn first Test against England concluded at Edgbaston on Monday and the second Test currently in progress at Lords.
De Kock said at Lords on Friday: ”Jacques Kallis is due to arrive on Tuesday. He will probably play in both warm-up games before the third Test.”
The third match of this five Test series starts at Trent Bridge on August 14.
Before then South Africa have a one-day match against the Professional Cricketers’ Association on Wednesday, August 6 at Shenley and a three-day first-class game against Kent at Canterbury, starting on Thursday, August 7.
In Kallis’s absence South Africa called up Andrew Hall, who had been playing for English county Worcestershire, into the team for the second Test.
But both men could yet feature in the same Test side. – Sapa-AFP
