Supersport United scored two goals –one in each half — to beat Wits University in their Premier Soccer League game played at Bidvest-Milpark on Saturday afternoon. United led 1-0 at the break.
United’s dangerous striker Abram Raselemane scored in the 35th minute — a header outjumping Wits defender Tsietsi Mahoa to beat goalkeeper Wayne Roberts at the far right corner.
United defender Peter Khoabande was the supplier to Raselemane, who registered the only goal in the first half. The host team, Wits, were in control throughout the first half, but failed to score.
In the second half, the Clever Boys tried to equalise but United inflicted more danage in the form of another goal.
United coach Pitso Mosimane made a clever substitution, replacing Raselemane with another striker, Daniel Matsau, and it worked.
Matsau made his presence felt when he scored United’s second goal in the 77th minute. He received a knee pass from Sibusiso Mahlangu and quickly tapped the ball with his left foot, leaving Roberts stranded.
United, from this win, registered their 13th win from 25 games and moved from fifth to fourth with 43 points. Wits, with nine wins from 20 games, have only 35 points, and are still in seventh position. — Sapa
