Grintek to supply equipment to Malaysia

South Africa’s Grintek Aviation Systems has been awarded a contract to supply an instrument landing system and distance measurement equipment to Malaysia.

The equipment will be installed at the Alor Setar Airport in the north of the country, Grintek said in a statement received in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

The multi-million rand order includes not only the installation and commissioning of the equipment but also the on-site training of personnel.

”The specification was for a reliable, cutting edge technical solution that offered a cost effective advantage over the long term. The suppliers of these systems are world leaders and we are confident that we are providing the best solution,” said Grintek Aviation Systems director Len Collier.

He said this was the first time Grintek was supplying these systems to Malaysia.

The technology had a proven track record at airports such as the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport outside Nelspruit as well as the Matsapa Airport in Swaziland.

The company is currently installing a number of similar systems at airports throughout South Africa for Air Traffic and Navigation Service. – Sapa
