SA vineyard owner murdered in the Philippines

The owner of a South African vineyard, Swiss-born Manfred Schoeni, has been murdered in the Philippines, SABC news reported on Wednesday.

He was confirmed to be among four murder victims in the Philippines resort of Boracay.

According to a DPA report, the four were knifed repeatedly after putting up a struggle against robbers who broke into their villa on Sunday.

Schoeni owned the Ashanti wine estate near the Klein Drakenstein mountain range in Paarl. He also was the owner of two art galleries in Hong Kong where he had been resident since 1975. – Sapa
