Manning Rangers escaped relegation by beating Wits University 2-1 to collect three valuable points in a Castle Premiership encounter at Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday night. Rangers led 2-1 at the interval.
The Durban outfit showed from the start of this match that they meant business by going forward in numbers. Their efforts were rewarded in the fourth minute when Kerryn Jordaan scored.
Their joy did not last long as Benson Mhlongo equalised for the Students in the 12th minute. Rangers kept going forward in search of a winner, which was netted by Alton Meiring in the 38th minute.
The home side started this match attacking with four strikers, Meiring, Dale Studzinski, Minga and Jordaan.
This win took Rangers to the fourth spot from the bottom of the table with 26 points in 29 games. Zulu Royals, who are second from the bottom, have 22 points from the same number of games. – Sapa
