Santos coach quits

Top South African development coach Farouk Khan has resigned as technical director at Castle Premiership side Santos.

”It is true that I have left Santos after my contract with the club ended at the end of the season, I enjoyed my stay at Santos,” said Khan.

Following rumours that he was likely to join First Division League side Maritzburg City, Khan said: ”I have heard those rumours but it’s not true.

”I have not decided which team I will be joining in the new soccer season. Obviously, I would like to work in the Premiership.” Sources close to Khan said there was a possibility that the Johannesburg-based coach could rejoin Kaizer Chiefs.

Khan worked for Chiefs as a development coach before he was recruited by Santos to join them as an assistant coach two seasons ago.

At that time Santos were under the watchful eye of Muhsin Ertugral, the former Chiefs coach who is now working in Austria. — Sapa
