Chief executive leaves ThisDay

The chief executive of ThisDay newspaper, Graeme King, has resigned from the company.

In a joint statement released on Tuesday King said he hoped the newspaper would become a ”leading voice in the market”.

King led the company through the critical launch phase of the national daily newspaper last year.

”The reading public in the target market is favourably inclined to ThisDay and has high regard for its content. I hope the newspaper can grow and become a leading voice in the market. I wish the company well in all its endeavours,” he said.

ThisDay chairperson Nduka Obaigbena said he appreciated King’s role

in leading the company through the challenges of launching a new newspaper in South Africa. He wished him well for the future.

No reasons were given for King’s resignation. The company’s chief operating officer Graeme Wilson would not comment further. – Sapa
