The retail price of all octane grades of petrol will rise by 17 cents a litre on Wednesday, the Department of Minerals and Energy said in Pretoria.
Departmental spokesperson Yvonne Mfolo said in a media release on Friday that the price of diesel with a 0,3% sulphur content will rise by 23 cents per litre, wholesale. Diesel with a 0,05% sulphur content will go up by 22 cents per litre, wholesale.
Illuminating paraffin will cost 24 cents per litre more, wholesale.
The “single maximum national retail price” for illuminating paraffin will rise by 32 cents per litre, to R4,62. This price has been administered by the minister of minerals and energy since April 2003 and is adjusted monthly.
Reviewing the period from September 27 to October 25, Mfolo said the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin rose, while the average rand/dollar exchange rate strengthened when compared with the previous period.
Mfolo said the price rise will take effect from just after midnight on Tuesday night. — Sapa
