Lamontville Golden Arrows collected maximum points when they beat Black Leopards 1-0 in a Castle Premiership encounter played at Kings Park Soccer Stadium on Saturday night.
The home side led 1-0 at the interval thanks to a goal by Mabhuti Khanyeza in the 8th minute. This came after he had received an excellent cross ball from Siphesihle ”Trinity” Ngobese.
In fact, Arrows should have won this game by a bigger margin but were let down by poor finishing in front of goals especially in the second half. Lucky ”Y2K” Sibeko who was introduced for Thiyekile ”Ace” Gulwa at the beginning of the second half, wasted four clear chances. His first touch hit the crossbar with Amon Phophi, Leopards goalkeeper, beaten hands down.
The crossbar also denied Richard Henyekane the opportunity to increase the lead for the home side in the 59th minute. This was Arrows’ first win under their caretaker coach, Mlungisi ”Professor” Ngubane. His first game against Kaizer Chiefs ended in a 2-all draw a couple of weeks ago, after the withdrawal of Simon Ngomane. – Sapa
