Argentinian Oscar Fullone is most likely to rejoin South Africa’s most expensively assembled football outfit, Mamelodi Sundowns.
This follows speculation current coach Paul Dolezar is on his way out following a series of poor results in the past few days.
Most recent was a shock 2-1 defeat by Black Leopards during their Castle Premiership match at Thohoyandou Stadium in Limpopo on Saturday.
Reports from Sundowns’ headquarters in Chloorkop, Midrand, are that Dolezar had a meeting with club owner Patrice Motsepe late on Sunday.
Fullone is reported to have been in Johannesburg for some time. Fullone resigned as Sundowns’ coach early this year due to poor health.
At that time, it was reported that Fullone was going back home for an operation. Sundowns did not perform well under the guidance of the Argentinian.
Sundowns appointed Khabo Zondo as coach following the departure of Fullone, who was surprisingly named coach of Tunisian club Esperance a few weeks later.
Zondo is now head of development at Sundowns.
All that Dolezar was prepared to say on Monday morning was: ”I have a two-year contract with Sundowns.”
Fullone could not be reached for comment.
Sundowns marketing manager Alex Shakoane said he is in the dark regarding the announcement to be made by Motsepe at a media briefing at the Sandton Sun on Monday at noon. — Sapa
