A Japanese man kept his 21-year-old girlfriend confined in handcuffs for 11 days in his apartment because he worried she may date other men, police said on Wednesday.
Daisuke Nonoyama (27) was arrested on Monday in central Shizuoka prefecture after his girlfriend’s mother visited his apartment having not heard from her daughter, a police spokesperson said.
The suspect had dated her since April last year.
Police said he admitted the allegations and told investigators: ”I was afraid that she may date other men if I left her by herself.”
Nonoyama was arrested for alleged abduction, confinement and bodily injury, the spokesperson said. — Sapa-AFP
