The retail price of petrol will decrease by up to 52 cents per litre from next week Wednesday, the Department of Minerals and Energy has announced in a statement.
The department said on Wednesday the retail price of 97 Octane unleaded petrol will decrease by 52 cents and the wholesale price of diesel with 0,05% sulphur by 39 cents.
The retail price of both unleaded and leaded 93 Octane petrol will drop by 44 cents per litre.
The wholesale price of diesel with 0,3% sulphur will decrease by 38 cents and illuminating paraffin by 45 cents. The drop in prices is due to the decrease in average international prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin.
The strengthening of the average rand/dollar exchange rate during the review period from November 26 to December 24 also affected the prices.
Last month, petrol of all octanes dropped by 19 cents per litre. — Sapa
