Boy in a bubble looking for love

A 29-year-old suburban Sydney lifeguard, fed up with the life of a bachelor, moved into a giant plastic bubble on Thursday in hopes of attracting a Valentine.

Luke, who declined to give his family name, said he will spend the next five days living in the clear plastic ball in a downtown Sydney shopping mall in hopes of finding true love.

“Single life is fun, but I really miss the companionship and friendship of someone close,” he told reporters from inside his temporary home.

The stunt, set up by an internet dating agency, appeared to be working. Luke said he has already received about 100 e-mails from prospective Valentines.

“It’s like anything, you get some really nice people and some really weird people … but there are three or four that stand out that I have responded to,” he said.

Luke’s bubble is furnished with an armchair, a table with a bowl of fruit on it and a laptop computer.

He plans to emerge on Valentine’s Day, February 14, and take his chosen candidate out to dinner. — AFP
