South African Airways (SAA) has cancelled its scheduled Thursday flight to and from Mauritius because of a tropical cyclone.
The airline said the flight has fallen foul of precautions being taken in Mauritius in advance of the expected arrival there of Cyclone Hennie.
SAA said the island’s international airport has been closed for the day, preventing any aircraft from landing on the holiday paradise.
SA190, due to depart Johannesburg at 9.40am on Thursday, will now leave on Friday at 8am as SA9192 and arrive in Mauritius at 2.10pm instead of 3.50pm.
SA191, which was to depart from Mauritius at 4.50pm on Thursday, will leave at 3.10pm as SA9193 and arrive in Johannesburg at 5.40pm instead of 7.20pm.
”SAA apologises for the inconvenience caused to its passengers. These are circumstances out of our control and weather permitting, the normal flight schedule will be resumed soonest,” airline spokesperson Onkgopotse JJ Tabane said. — Sapa
