Supersport end campaign in fourth spot

A 1-0 victory for Supersport United over Silver Stars at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday evening saw them end their Castle Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign in fourth place.

The match brings down the curtain on the PSL season, and their victory on Tuesday night saw United leapfrog Moroka Swallows on the table to end off in fourth position behind Kaizer Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns, allowing them a place in next season’s CAF Cup.

The winning goal was scored by Mandla Zwane late in the first half and arose as a result of poor Stars defence.

Supersport had to turn attack into defence midway through the second half when Peter Khoabane was red-carded after a somewhat vicious tackle on Stanley Kgatla.

There is still one match remaining for Supersport and that is on Saturday when they play Wits University at Rustenburg in the Absa Cup final. — Sapa
