Three SA men held on rape charges in the UK

British police have arrested three South African men in connection with a series of abductions and rapes in Northamptonshire, The Citizen reported on Friday.

It quoted British police as saying a 19-year old man from Northampton and a 25-year-old man from London were apprehended on Thursday.

”Both were arrested on suspicion of attempted abduction. They are being interviewed at separate police stations.”

A third man, aged 36 and also from Northampton, was taken in on Wednesday night, and was being questioned in connection with rape.

A gang, said to have thick South African accents, has struck terror into Northamptonshire near London in past weeks, prompting police to warn women against going out alone at night.

The group targeted single women. They bundled their victims into cars before taking them to remote spots where they were gang-raped.

The three men arrested could not be named before their appearance in court, The Citizen reported. – Sapa
