Always Innocent, but absent from court

Even if he doesn’t live up to his name, it’s going to take a hard-hearted magistrate to pronounce him guilty.

Always Innocent is facing a charge of possession of suspected stolen goods, and was scheduled to appear for trial in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

But regardless of his culpability, he did not appear, and magistrate Aziz Hamied issued a warrant for his arrest.

Prosecutor Monde Mfeya said Innocent, who is a foreign national — he believes Tanzanian — has been out on warning.

He has not yet pleaded in the matter. — Sapa
