No goals for Bucks, Arrows

A gallant Gareth Ormshaw denied Bush Bucks their second successive victory in the Castle Premier Soccer League on Monday evening. The Lamontville Golden Arrows goalkeeper was rock solid and ensured his team walked away with a point after the two teams played to a goalless draw at the Absa Stadium in East London.

The first half belonged to the home side, but poor finishing in the box thwarted them. Bucks striker and Zambian international James Chamanga failed to beat the Arrows goalkeeper in the 13th minute, despite outpacing the visitors’ defence.

On the other side of the park, Arrows striker Alton Meiring failed to connect with a header from Mabhugi Khanyeza in the 19th minute.

Ormshaw was on hand again in the 28th minute to deny Sibusiso Mazebuko.

Arrows coach Thabo Zondo made an early substitution in the 33rd minute when took off Nathanial November and brought on former Kaizer Chiefs striker Justice Sithole to stabilise the midfield, which was being dominated by Bush Bucks.

In the second half, Bucks continued to raid the Arrows goal mouth, but Ormshaw stood firm and the home team failed to reap any reward. — Sapa
