Police silent on Kebble murder investigation

Inquiries about the investigation into Brett Kebble’s murder drew a blank on Friday with the police unwilling to comment.

”I’m not allowed to talk to the media,” said Director Charles Johnson, head of the Johannesburg task team investigating the murder of the mining magnate.

Senior Superintendent Mary Martins-Engelbrecht would also say nothing about the case, referring inquires to Commissioner Perumal Naidoo, whose office said he too would not comment on the matter.

David Barritt said he was no longer the family’s spokesperson and was ”out of the loop” about the investigation.

The 41-year-old businessman was shot dead on September 27 while on his way to a dinner engagement.

Police have not been able to say whether the killing of the controversial businessman was an assassination or a botched hijacking. – Sapa
