A Malaysian man is claiming a new record after teaching non-stop for 88 hours, in a feat involving hundreds of students which left him with a sore back and high blood pressure, a report said on Friday.
“My doctor actually advised me against doing this, but I was determined to show my love for teaching,” A. Elanthevan told the New Straits Times.
The 42-year-old began the marathon lesson — including grammar, composition and literature and all conducted in the national language Bahasa Melayu — on December 25 and completed it on December 29.
Doctors checked up on him four times a day, and he took only a 10-minute break every six hours.
“I did not drink too much water as I could only go to the toilet every six hours,” he said.
Elanthevan made it into the Malaysia Book of Records earlier this year with a non-stop 24-hour teaching marathon. – AFP
