TK: Police deny Saturday Star report

Johannesburg police on Saturday denied media reports that the wife of an alleged drug dealer who was regularly visited by late R&B singer Tsakani ”TK” Mhinga had been arrested.

Captain Schalk Bornman said no arrests have been made in connection with Mhinga’s death.

”We just followed up on some information as we always do. We went to the La Michelle complex and just asked people a few questions. Nobody was arrested nor detained,” Bornman said.

The Saturday Star reported that an alleged drug dealer who lived at a townhouse complex called La Michelle in Midrand was believed to have regularly supplied the singer with drugs and that she regularly visited the residence.

The report said Mhinga often did not sign the entry register but instead gave the guards copies of her albums.

When the paper visited the complex this week, ”the dealers were openly selling drugs”.

The postmortem results of Mhinga, which were expected in four to six weeks, were not expected to be released to the public until police had completed their investigation.

Mhinga (27) was found dead in a Bryanston hotel on Monday. It is believed she died from a drug overdose. – Sapa
