Latest and greatest on show in Durban

Next week sees KwaZulu-Natal hosting the 2006 Standard Bank Durban Motor Show, from March 17 to 21, at the Durban Exhibition Centre.

Thirty leading motor brands will display their latest offerings at the event, and their ranks include more than a couple of exotics. Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus, Maserati and Rolls-Royce will all have their latest wheels on show. For Durbanites and those in the city on holiday the show will provide a rare opportunity to see so many cars side-by-side for comparison at the same time.

Eight new cars from mass manufacturers will be introduced to the public at the event. These include the luxurious new Hyundai Azera flagship, the Toyota Fortuner SUV, the fifth-generation Volkswagen Jetta and the sporty new Ford Focus ST.

The event will also feature a number of interactive daily activities set to wow the crowds. The Nissan 350Z extreme driving team will show off their skills daily, as will Brian Capper of Extreme Motorcycle Exhibitions, who will perform twice daily at 11am and 5pm. The Buell American Motorcycle Stunt Team will perform at 2pm and 6pm each day, and visitors will have an opportunity to experience the Nissan Mobile 4X4 track.

The 2006 Standard Bank Durban Motor Show runs from March 17 to 21 from 10am to 9pm. Tickets cost R40 per adult and R10 for kids under 12.
