An Egyptian suspected of involvement in the triple suicide bombings that killed 20 people in the Sinai peninsula last month surrendered to the security forces, police officials said on Thursday.
The suspect, 25-year-old Khalil al-Menei from the northern Sinai town of al-Arish, was on a list of people wanted in connection with a string of terrorist attacks in the Sinai.
He turned himself in to the police on Wednesday, a police official told Agence France-Presse on condition of anonymity.
Three suicide bombers blew themselves up on April 24 in the popular southern Sinai diving resort of Dahab, killing 20 other people, including foreigners, and wounding around 90.
Egyptian security forces have since been combing the vast mountainous desert of Sinai to track down the perpetrators and announced on Tuesday that the mastermind of the terror organisation behind the bombings was killed.
Six others suspects and one member of the police force have also been killed since the government launched its manhunt in the peninsula.
The interior ministry accuses the same group — Tawhid wal Jihad (Unification and Holy War) — of being responsible for all attacks in the Sinai over the past two years.
