Bloom-Goldin related court case postponed

A man accused of making death threats against two men suspected of the murders of actor Brett Goldin and his designer friend Richard Bloom appeared briefly in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

The accused is the alleged leader of the Cape Town gang known as the Americans.

Igshaan Davids (35) is alleged to have telephoned Yazeed Eyssen (25) Anushka Anthony (22) and Zubair Davids (no relation to Igshaan) and threatened to have them killed if his (Igshaan’s) younger brother Clinton was found guilty of the murders.

State prosecutor Juanita Swart requested magistrate Aziz Hamied to postpone the case to July 11 as the docket had not been brought to court.

On postponing the matter, Hamied explained to Davids that Swart needed time ”to track down the docket”.

Davids’ R5 000 bail granted by magistrate Bertus van der Spuy during an earlier court appearance was extended.

During that bail application, questions were asked about Davids’ possible membership of the Americans gang.

Although investigating officer Inspector Jeremy Marais had told the court the police could not confirm that Igshaan Davids was the leader of the gang, he said his tattoos suggested he was.

He (Davids) had the word ”Americans” and the symbol of a dollar on his right inner arm, the words ”good”, ”chico” and the number 26 on his right wrist. – Sapa
