Petrol will go up by 25 cents a litre at midnight on Wednesday, the Department of Minerals and Energy announced on Friday.
Diesel with a sulphur content of 0,05% will go up 32 cents a litre and diesel with a sulphur content of 0,005% will go up 31 cents a litre.
Illuminating paraffin goes up 36 cents a litre in wholesale price and 48 cents a litre in the single maximum national retail price.
That means 95-octane unleaded petrol will now cost R6,73 a litre in Gauteng, 93-octane unleaded petrol and lead-replacement petrol will cost R6,61, and 91-octane unleaded petrol will cost R6,60.
A litre of 95-octane unleaded petrol on the coast will cost R6,49.
The wholesale price of diesel is regulated, but not the retail price.
The department said that during the period under review the average international produce prices decreased.
The average rand/dollar exchange rate weakened — for the period June 2 to 29 it was R6,90 compared with R6,34 during the previous period. — Sapa
