Real make fresh offer for Van Nistelrooy

Real Madrid have made a new offer for Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy after Manchester United rejected a bid last week.

”The club have made a new offer and are waiting for reply from Manchester,” a Real spokesperson said on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old Van Nistelrooy is at the centre of a tug-of-war between Real and Bayern Munich, after he said he wanted to leave Old Trafford after five years in England.

Spanish media report that Real have bid â,¬15-million.

The Netherlands striker, who joined United for a then-British record of £19-million in 2001, had a disappointing end to the 2005/06 season in which he was dropped by manager Alex Ferguson.

However, when asked if there had been any change in Van Nistelrooy’s situation on Wednesday, Ferguson told Sky Sports TV: ”None at all. At this moment in time, without question [he’s still a United player].

”He trained well yesterday [Tuesday]. He had a good attitude to his training, which is good, therefore he’s a United player.” — Reuters
