Former Hewlett-Packard chairperson Patricia Dunn will fight ”false” criminal charges against her ”with everything she has,” her lawyer said on Wednesday.
”Today, in California, Pattie Dunn was charged with various offences. These charges are being brought against the wrong person at the wrong time and for the wrong reasons,” her lawyer Jim Brosnahan said in a statement here.
”They are the culmination of a well-financed and highly orchestrated disinformation campaign,” he said, calling the charges ”false”.
”Throughout her entire career, she has stood for corporate process, responsibility and service. As her many supporters fully expect, she will fight these charges with everything she has,” the statement said.
California on Wednesday announced indictments against Dunn, former HP ethics lawyer Kevin Hunsaker and three private investigators for their roles in a snowballing boardroom espionage scandal.
Dunn, Hunsaker and the investigators were each charged with fraudulent wire communications, wrongful use of computer data, identity theft, and conspiracy to commit those crimes, state Attorney General Bill Lockyer said.
Lockyer asked the court for warrants to arrest those accused. If convicted as charged, each would face maximum punishments of 12 years in prison and fines of approximately $65 000. – Sapa-AFP
