Talk Radio 702 presenter Tim Modise has been appointed executive director of communications and commercial affairs for the 2010 Soccer World Cup Local Organising Committee, station manager Pheladi Gwangwa said on Thursday.
Modise, who hosts the 9am to midday slot on Talk Radio 702 and 567 Cape Talk, will take up the post in January.
”The past few years at Primedia Broadcasting have been the most fulfilling of my career so this has been a difficult decision for me to make,” said Modise.
”This is in answer to a national call. I do, however, look forward to a continued association with the stations.”
Gwangwa said Primedia Broadcasting agreed to release Modise from his contractual obligations in the interest of the World Cup.
”We thank Tim for his contribution to the stations over the past four years. We are fully behind 2010 and we wish Tim well in his new role.”
She said the Talk@Nine host Redi Direko would replace Modise.
An announcement on Direko’s replacement would be made shortly, Gwangwa said. — Sapa
