Traffic enforcement set to disrupt Pretoria CBD

Drivers should expect delays on their way to the office on Wednesday in Pretoria’s central business district, Tshwane Metro Police have warned.

”Operation Adherence”, the metro police’s search for drivers with outstanding warrants of arrest, would move into the city on Wednesday, said metro police spokesperson Mel Vosloo in a statement.

Roadblocks and other law enforcement activities would be in place on all the major routes into and out of the city.

”It is expected that traffic in the CBD will be severely disrupted due to this operation.” Vosloo said. Fifty additional officers would be brought in to help with the operation.

”The thrust of the roadblocks will be to stop and arrest drivers that have outstanding warrants of arrest. This will, however, be augmented by normal law enforcement where vehicle fitness will also be checked and fines will be issued for defects as well,” Vosloo said. — Sapa
