Wireless broadband provider iBurst has struck a deal with listed telecommunications company Datapro and consumer-focused ISP @lantic Internet Services, the company said on Wednesday.
“A growing demand for wireless broadband in South Africa coupled with high fixed-line telecommunications costs has encouraged iBurst to expand its distribution network. @lantic has more than 200 franchises countrywide and an additional 700 service partners,” it said.
iBurst has a subscriber base of almost 30Â 000 and this has the potential to grow significantly with iBurst’s partnership with Datapro and @lantic.
“iBurst’s expertise in wireless technologies combined with our partners’ range of internet and data solutions will ensure a mutually viable relationship,” iBurst CEO Thami Mtshali said.
@lantic has been an iBurst reseller since 2005.
Current estimates show South Africa has approximately 350 000 broadband connections. However, despite increased competition and lower prices, broadband penetration is remarkably low compared to other countries, iBurst noted. ‒ I-Net Bridge
