Nedbank wants to be on shopping lists

Nedbank officially opened its banking kiosk at the Pick ‘n Pay Hypermarket in Northgate this weekend.

“Banking within a hypermarket is an innovative way for Nedbank to deliver on its commitment to become more accessible and reach more people. The partnership with Pick ‘n Pay is a natural fit considering the their goal of offering clients everything under one roof,” said Alfred Ramosedi, Nedbank retail divisional director.

“Nedbank clients can now add banking to their shopping lists, and those who are closer to a Pick ‘n Pay Hypermarket than a branch can also enjoy the convenience of a wider distribution channel,” said Ramosedi.

Clients will be able to use the Nedbank kiosks to apply for cheque accounts, personal loans, credit cards and so forth. In addition, there is a self-service terminal that can assist with the banking needs of most clients.

“Opening kiosks in Pick ‘n Pay is part of Nedbank’s expansion and growth strategy over the next two years. The first Nedbank kiosk was opened in Steeldale, Alberton, earlier this month,” said Ramosedi.

In addition to kiosks in Pick ‘n Pay hypermarkets, Nedbank has opened several kiosks in Score and Boxer stores to increase its distribution infrastructure.

By 2008, a further 400 staffed outlets will be opened, including at least 80 full-service branches and 30 personal-lending branches. In addition, all existing automated teller machines (ATMs) and self-service terminals (SSTs) are either being upgraded or replaced, with the overall number of ATMs and SSTs being increased by 50% over the period.

Nedbank’s investment in improving its reach will reach more than R1-billion. — I-Net Bridge
