Security company denies airport links

ADT Security, the owner of Kusela Security, on Wednesday denied that the company ever handled security at OR Tambo International airport.

”ADT would like to confirm that this statement is factually incorrect,” managing director Danna Strydom said.

”Kusela has never handled the security at the OR Tambo airport.”

Former security boss for the Airports Company South Africa (Acsa) Paul O’Sullivan was earlier reported as saying police chief Jackie Selebi had had a vested interest in the appointment of a security company — named as Kusela — for the airport.

According to media reports, this company’s boss was a friend of Selebi’s.

O’Sullivan is behind a dossier accusing Selebi of wrongdoing.

His conflict with Selebi allegedly stems from a 2001 decision to terminate a lucrative contract O’Sullivan’s security company had with Acsa. — Sapa
