Pretoria ATM blast: Two held

Two men have been arrested after they blew up an ATM in Mamelodi East outside Pretoria, Gauteng police said on Friday.

Director Govindsamy Mariemuthoo said the men blew up a Standard Bank ATM at a Shell garage on Friday morning.

The police responded and two men were arrested. Five others managed to run away.

Mariemuthoo said an AK-47 rifle, a 9mm pistol and a BMW were seized by the police.

”We are searching for the five other suspects,” he said.

Police believed some money was stolen, but no cash was recovered from the two men.

It was not immediately known if any shots were fired during the incident as investigations were at an early stage, Mariemuthoo said. – Sapa
