Traffic stations countrywide will be closed on Monday morning as new computer servers are being installed to tackle problems with the new eNaTIS (electronic National Traffic Information System), the Department of Transport announced.
”People shouldn’t go to the traffic stations until after lunch … at about 2pm,” said spokesperson Collen Msibi.
Msibi said the morning would be used to install new servers ordered last week after the department had identified the problem in the new electronic system.
Backlogs, technical glitches and shaky, slow systems have been reported at testing stations around the country since the eNaTIS system was introduced last month.
Msibi said problems were caused by the current server capacity. ”It [the installation] is going to clear up the problems.”
The registration of new vehicles had been a major problem, he said.
Last week the Cabinet asked the public to be patient while the problems with eNaTIS (electronic National Traffic Information System) were being worked on. — Sapa
